Program:

1. A brief meeting of the new NCCC Board of Directors.
2. Contest update with Andy, AE6Y, our VP/CC.
3. Our special guest is Brooke Allen, N2BA/YN2SX, speaking on
"Modern Game Design Principles Applied to Ham Radio." 

Brooke was born in 1952 and licensed in 1966. He has a BA in Mathematics and an MBA in Finance. His career took him from math to programming to financial analysis and eventually to hedge fund management for 18 years before retiring in 2014 to become a writer and social entrepreneur. In 2010 he was attending a conference where a speaker was asked by an audience member, "What would you study today that wasn't even taught in college when you went?" The speaker said, "Game mechanics." Since Brooke didn't even know what that was, he decided to study it and really fell hard. He's written a series of articles for NCJ on game design for contesters, and you can find them here: https://brookeallen.com/2010/05/05/game-design-for-amateur-radio-contesters/ These days when he's not working CW or playing board games with his wife he's probably working on a TV series you can follow at Unoccupy.org.
