Northern California Contest Club Celebrates 55th Anniversary with On-Air Fiesta
The Northern California Contest Club (NCCC), a pioneer in amateur radio excellence since 1970, is thrilled to announce a special on-air event — the NCCC 55th Anniversary Fiesta, taking place Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 1900Z Saturday-0300Z Sunday (noon to 8pm Pacific Time).

In celebration of five and a half decades of camaraderie, innovation, and competition, the Fiesta invites amateur radio operators across North America and beyond to join the airwaves in a spirited, all-mode operating event. Whether you’re an NCCC member or not, this is your chance to help celebrate the legacy of one of the most influential contesting clubs in the country.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
  • All Modes Welcome: Operate using CW, SSB, or RTTY — no mode divisions.
  • No Power Limits: Categories include QRP, Low Power (LP), and High Power (HP), with separate recognition for NCCC members and non-members.
  • Simple Exchange: Members (past and present) send their state and year of joining; non-members send state only.
  • Bonus Stations: Look for special callsigns like N6N, N6C, K6C, and W6C — worth 5 points per band!
  • Self-Spotting and Online Interaction Allowed: Make it social — stream, post, and celebrate in real time.

SCORING:

  • NCCC Members: Worth 2 points per QSO.
  • Non-Members: Worth 1 point per QSO.
  • Work each station once per band per mode.
To add to the excitement, top Single Operator scores in each power category (both member and non-member) will receive a $55 Visa gift card — a nod to the club's 55th year.

"This isn’t just a contest; it’s a celebration," said KO6M, one of the event organizers. “We’re honoring our club’s history while inviting the larger ham radio community to share in the fun, reflect on their own journeys, and connect on the air.”

Participants are encouraged to post scores on 3830scores.com within seven days. No formal log checking will occur — this is about fun, not perfection. Cabrillo logs may also be emailed to ko6m@arrl.net if needed.

A custom UDC file for N1MM Logger+ will be available to help track your contacts, though any logging software may be used.

Founded in 1970, the Northern California Contest Club has long stood as a pillar of the ham radio contesting world. Its members have led the way in competitive operating, technology development, and on-air mentoring for over five decades. More on the club’s legacy can be found at nccc.cc/history.html.

Join us August 9th and help make history — one contact at a time.
